Lisbon welcomes the first London School of Economics hub outside the UK

The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) has chosen the Portuguese capital to receive the first European hub outside the UK.

Lisbon was the city chosen by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) to host its first hub, known as LSE Generate, outside the UK. This new initiative from the university is primarily focused on supporting students and alumni in building socially responsible businesses.

“The entrepreneurship scene in Portugal is on the rise. Lisbon has been a magnet for innovation and companies and will soon become the startup capital of southern Europe,” justifies Laura-Jane Silverman, director of LSE Generate, in a statement.

LSEGenerate, which will be based in the Portuguese capital at Casa do Impacto, will offer a programme aimed primarily at early-stage founders, which will include funding competitions, events, networking and an accelerator, the Generate Accelerator Programme, which already has two programmes announced, Launch and Live (includes accommodation).

Founded in 2018, Casa do Impacto is located in the Convent of São Pedro de Alcântara, in the heart of Lisbon, and is home to over 250 entrepreneurs and close to 50 startups aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations Agenda 2030.
