In September, the Chamber of Commerce Portugal - Vietnam (CCIPV) had a busy schedule filled with various events. These gatherings were attended by many participants and featured high-level discussions. The aim was to explore potential business opportunities and find ways to enhance the partnership between Europe and Vietnam, with a focus on making meaningful impacts.
1. Ho Chi Minh city Economic Forum (HEF) 2023
On 15 Sep 2023, CCIPV Chairman Sergio D. Silva attended the Ho Chi Minh city Economic Forum (HEF) 2023 under the theme "Green Growth Towards Net-Zero". Consistent with the city's growth orientation of green and sustainable development, the event collect experience and feasible solutions to be tailored for the city.
As part of the goverment's commitment at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP 26) to reach carbon neutral in 2050, the Forum gathered more than 1,000 delegates from international financial institutions like the World Bank (WB), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and international organisations, along with managers and leaders of localities of 21 countries, representatives from diplomatic and consular agencies, and domestic and foreign enterprises, and experts.
2. CCIPV joins EuroCham at the Welcoming Reception of H.E. Julien Guerrier – Newly Appointed EU Ambassador to Vietnam
On 20 Sep 2023, CCIPV Chairman Sergio D. Silva and Head of Rep. Office in Vietnam Lan Phan joined EuroCham at the Welcoming Reception of H.E. Julien Guerrier – Newly Appointed EU Ambassador to Vietnam.
During the reception, the Ambassador highlighted the key priorities of the European Delegation to Vietnam, which involve enhancing economic collaboration and creating favorable conditions for European businesses in Vietnam. He emphasized the importance of trade, sustainable development, and regulatory matters.
Ambassador-Designate Julien Guerrier has been working for close to 30 years at the European Commission, mainly on international trade negotiations, industrial and research policy, and corporate management issues. Prior to coming to Vietnam, he was in charge of the Directorate developing the overall policy for the EU funding programme for research and innovation, Horizon Europe.
3. CCIPV Attended the Vietnam Sourcing EXPO
On 22 Sep 2023, Head of Rep. Office in Vietnam Lan Phan joined the Viet Nam Sourcing Expo and its conference session on connecting with Central Retail Group session. The CCIPV team consistently seeks strategic opportunities to effectively advocate for the interests of its members, which includes obtaining valuable insights into the Vietnamese market.
Vietnam Sourcing Expo is an annual exhibition and B2B connection under the Ministry of Industry & Trade (MoIT)’s European-American Market Department in order to connect businesses across the globe. The exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to promote Vietnam as a hub for manufacture, trade and exports.
4. CCIPV's Chairman High-level Meeting with H.E. Julien Guerrier – EU Ambassador to Vietnam
On the same day (22 Sep 2023), EuroCham's Sector Committees met with the EU Ambassador-Designate Julien Guerrier to share EuroCham's advocacy efforts across themes like trade, economy, consumption, health, and sustainability.
The agenda featured introductions by EuroCham Vice-Chair Jean-Jacques Bouflet and Ambassador-Designate Guerrier, presentations from 19 Sector Committee representatives, interactive feedback, and discussion on the next steps. The fruitful discussions and shared commitments during these working meetings have illuminated the path forward—a path where EuroCham and the EU Ambassador-Designate work hand in hand to foster a green transition, implement vital agreements like the EVFTA, and build a prosperous and sustainable future for Vietnam—a future where collaboration paves the way for meaningful impact.
